Email Marketing
| Email marketing is a misnomer that we really wish would go away. It is marketing in the sense that the message is designed to increase the customer base, highlight a special or announce an event. In that sense, it is in fact marketing. We prefer, however, to call it dialogs established through email. Thinking of email marketing in this way completely changes the way you think about the process. Email marketing, properly done, is an ongoing conversation between you and others. Like any good conversationalist, what you say should be interesting and relevant to the person on the receiving end of the message. Typically this means talking about the things that you both have in common. Typically then this means talking to someone you know, otherwise known as a customer. Customers, or at least persons with whom you have at least a passing relationship with, are the best ones to reach out to with your e-mails. They already know you and they already have self-selected you by their previous actions. Talk about what you have in common and what interests them and you may just find the conversation to be profitable for you both. | ![]() |
